Age 74 – passed away at her residence on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, one day short of her 75th birthday. She was born on June 14, 1937 in Waukesha, WI, the daughter of Ralph and Margaret (Norton) Haynes. She married Mike Jakubowski on October 7, 1991 in Wild Rose, WI.
Helen is survived by her husband, Mike, daughter: Sharon Newman of West Virginia, son: George Mason of Louisiana, step-children: Joseph (Arlene) Jakubowski of Muskego, Jamie Jakubowski of Waupaca, Jeffrey (Marcia) Jakubowski of Waupaca, Jalaine (Joey) Huerth of Poy Sippi, Joni Jakubowski (significant other: Dennis Peters) of Brookfield, Jason (Patricia) Jakubowski of Princeton, and Jared (Jessica) Jakubowski of Pewaukee. She is also survived by 22 step-grandchildren, 9 step-great grandchildren, and her faithful companion: Monti. Helen was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Sally.
Helen was very well known all around the Wild Rose area for her baked goods. She loved baking and she and Mike turned that into a business, owning and operating Jakubowski Farms Bakery through the late 1990’s. She had patented a bread mix recipe that was eventually bought by the Regal Ware appliance company, and for a period of time was included with the bread makers the company sold. She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wautoma and in 2005 she completed the Formation Program sponsored by the Green Bay Diocese for leading prayer for deacons and lay leaders in the church. She had many other interests including doing puzzles, knitting, crocheting, beading, quilting, creating decorative boxes, making jewelry, writing, caring for her plants, and studying the Word of God.
A visitation will be held at the Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose, WI on Monday, June 18, 2012 from 10:00 am until Noon, followed by a Celebration of Helen’s Life with Father Robert Stegmann – St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Wautoma, officiating. A memorial has been established in the name of Helen C. Jakubowski. The Holly Funeral Home of Wild Rose, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
