Helen Pohl's Obituary
Helen Pohl, age 97, of Almond, WI passed away on Friday, February 29, 2008 in Ocala, FL where she was on vacation with her son and daughter in law. Helen was born in Town of Oasis, on September 9, 1910, the daughter of the late Franklin and Leona (Hamilton) Grimm. She went to Wood Elementary School and graduated from Almond High School. She also graduated from business school in Oshkosh. She worked at Hareware Mutual Insurance for 4 years. She married Arden Pohl on Jan. 1, 1934. She and Arden owned and operatored Pohl's Garage from 1937-1967. They also started the school bus service for Almond-Bancroft Schools. After retiring from the garage, she worked part time in various jobs. She and Arden traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Mexico. She was a long time member St. John's Lutheran Church in Almond. Helen is survived by her son: Donald (Marion) Pohl of Almond; her grandchildren: Holly & Rand Pohl; six step-grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and sixteen step great-great grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Arden and a brother, Lawrence(Pete) Grimm. A Memorial Service will be at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Almond at 11 AM on Saturday, March 15. Interment of cremains will be in the Almond Village Cemetery. A memorial visitation will be on Saturday morning from 10 to 11 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church.
