Henry H. Henke's Obituary
Henry H. Henke, age 92, left this world in peace on January 15, 2015, after a short stay in Wis. Veterans Home, King, WI. He was born in Loyal, WI on April 23, 1922, one of 10 children including a twin brother, born to Louis and Dorothy (Rayhorn) Henke who have preceded him in death. He was a WWII, US Army Veteran having honorably served in the European Theater from 1943 thru 1946. He met his wife while working at the Water Works and Lighting Commission, AlJoy (Smith) Henke and married her on November 26, 1951. Together they enjoyed 63 years of family and traveling the world, dancing polkas, waltzes, and jitterbugs and even won a dance contest.
He worked at Wis. Rapids Water Works and Lighting Commission for over 50 years. He was a member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) for a record of over 65 years, the DAV (Disabled American Veterans), and NARF (National Association of Retired Federal Employees).
He is survived by his wife Aljoy Henke, his son Rodney Henke, daughter-in-law Martha and grandchildren Reggie, Remy and Regis of Wis. Rapids. Son Randy Henke, daughter-in-law Kris, grandchildren Nicholas and Andrew of Boston. Daughter Mary Straus and grandson Gregory of Rhinelander. Daughter Dr. Ann Klesmit and grandchildren Destiny, Brandon, Jordan and Deja of Texas.
He is survived by one sister, Dorothy Stoflet of Marshfield, one brother Ray Henke and his wife Janet of Vesper. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He will be remembered as a good hardworking family man. He will be deeply missed by his wife, family and friends. He deeply loved his wife, children and grandchildren.
The funeral service and Final Military Salute will be on Tuesday, January, 20th at 11:00 am in the Main Chapel of Wis. Veterans Home in King, WI. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 –11:00 AM. Henry’s final resting place will be Central WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King.
