Howard Fischer's Obituary
Howard A. Fischer, age 99, of Waupaca, WI., formerly of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, May 12th, 2009 at Crystal River Nursing & Rehab. Center in Waupaca. He was born in Wisconsin Rapids, on July 4, 1909, a son of the late Joseph and Rose (Billmeyer) Fischer. He married Jennie Kurszewski on June 15, 1937 in Stevens Point. She preceded him in death on January 1, 1996. Howard was a graduate of the Milwaukee School of Engineering and was employed by the U.S. Army Signal Corps in Dayton, Ohio to procure communication material during W.W. II. Later he was employed by Nekoosa Papers, Inc. in the Research and Development and Technical Departments until his retirement in 1974. He enjoyed Indian motorcycles and was an amateur radio builder and operator. He was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Community Waupaca, Wisconsin. Survivors include 2 Daughters: Maxine (Jerome) Stark, Waupaca, WI; Sandra (Gerard) Troyanski, Plover, WI; 6 Grandchildren: SuZanne (Grant) Rogers, Elkhorn, NE; Terie (Casey) Holmquist, Avon, CO; Scott (Toni) Stark, Elkhorn, NE; Mary Anne Troyanski; Katherine Troyanski; James Troyanski; 3 Great Grandchildren: Scottie Stark; Jack and Sam Rogers. He was preceded in death by his wife Jennie, a brother - Donald and a sister - Margaret. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Waupaca at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 16th, 2009, with Father Brian Belongia officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park in Wisconsin Rapids. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9 AM until the time of the service at the church.
