Irene G. Walters' Obituary
Irene G. Walters (nee: Chier), age 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Brown Wilcox Assisted Living in Berlin where she had resided for the last year. She was born October 29, 1922 in Oshkosh, WI; daughter of John and Tillie (Brisky) Chier. On January 12, 1946, Irene married Roy L. Walters in Winneconne, WI and together they shared 62 years of marriage before his passing on February 11, 2008. She worked for many years at Sears Roebuck & Company in Berlin and retired in 1952. Her passion was her granddaughters that she loved very much. Irene was active in the homemakers and loved sewing fur teddy bears that won her many awards. She will be dearly missed by all of her loving family and friends.
Irene is survived by her son, Robert Walters of Poy Sippi, WI; two granddaughters, Michelle Walters of Ripon, WI and Micki (Doug) Kastenschmidt of Ripon, WI; and two great-grandsons, Jacob and Ryan Caswell. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Tillie Chier; her husband, Roy Walters; a son, Kenneth Walters; a sister, Virginia (Francis) Giddings; a brother, Edward (Aves) Chier; a niece, Connie Putzer; and a nephew, Daniel Chier.
A Memorial Service will be on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Holly Funeral Home in Poy Sippi, WI. A visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Holly Funeral Home. A private family burial will take place at a later date at Shed Island Cemetery in the Town of Aurora. The Holly Funeral Home of Poy Sippi is assisting the family with arrangements.
