Irving Petersen's Obituary
Irving Petersen Jr. age 76 of Waupaca, WI passed away on Monday, Sept. 12, 2005. Irv was born on February 4, 1929 in the Town of Farmington, Waupaca County and grew up in Waupaca’s Third Ward, the son of Irving and Margaret Petersen. He married Gladys Kolosso on June 20, 1952 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Manawa.
Irving was a career foundry man, beginning at the Waupaca Foundry in 1956. Later he worked for the Disamatic Co. and retired as half owner of Wisconsin Foundry Products in 1988.
After retirement Irving and Gladys moved to the Lake Tomahawk, WI area and spent their winters in Texas before returning to live fulltime in Waupaca in 1997. Irving enjoyed woodworking and made many children’s toys and furniture which he donated to charities. Irving is survived by his wife, Gladys; a daughter Kathy Wege, Appleton; two sons; Dan (Sandy) Petersen, Madison and Steve (Mary) Petersen, Superior; five grandchildren; Kurt (Leanne) Wege, Eric Wege, Tyler Petersen, Quinten Petersen, and Courtney Petersen. He is further survived by a sister Elaine McCrossen, Sterling, IL and a brother Phil Petersen, Waupaca. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Harry Petersen. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Weds. Sept. 14 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Waupaca with Rev. Jeffrey Holtan, officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Park in Waupaca. A memorial has been established in Irv’s name. Holly Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
