Isabel M. Urban's Obituary
Isabel Margaret Urban, of Wild Rose, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday August 10th, 2025 at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton. She was born on December 24th, 1941 in Wild Rose to Albert and Margaret Potts.
Isabel was a 1959 graduate of Wild Rose High School. Upon graduation, Isabel decided to continue her education to become a teacher. She met Clyde Urban and they married on July 23rd, 1960 at the Dopp Methodist Church in Wild Rose. Though Clyde and Isabel parted ways later in life, they were blessed with two children who they raised on a farm outside of Wild Rose. Isabel became a teacher and found a career at Almond-Bancroft Elementary School teaching First Grade. She was well-known in the community for being a “favorite teacher” to many throughout her 40 years of education and was proud of every student who crossed her path.
Isabel was a creative soul known for her talent in painting, carving and making stock cards. She could find a stick in the woods and turn it into a Santa, snowman or a goofy figure of her choice. She would see a beautiful barn, and perfectly replicate its beauty in her paintings. In most recent years, she would create beautiful cards and send them to family and friends- until she was enjoying them so much, she didn’t want to get rid of them and kept them in her card making room. Little did she know, her family kept every card she made and sent out to them. Isabel had such a deep love for her family, friends and her pets. She was an avid Cubs fan and even named a prior dog Wriggly Sosa- known mostly as Sosa. After Sosa passed away, she found a new fur baby named Mikey, after Michael Bolton. Those who knew Isabel, knew she had a love for Michael Bolton. She would celebrate Michael Bolton’s birthday every year with her grand-daughters and fight over who loved him more. For many years, Isabel’s family would drive around her driveway singing “Grandma got ran over by a reindeer” or “How Can We Be Lovers” and she would love and expect you to do it with the biggest smile on her face.
Isabel is survived by her son and his wife, Dennis and Faye, her grandkids Sara (Ben) Sanderson, Samantha (Nate) Hall, Ross Urban, Jenna (Damian) Montes, and Nicholas Chapple, her sister Arveda (Harry) Kirk, her great-grand kids Cash, Mack, Mia, Georgiana, and Sasha, former son-in-law Henry (Lori) Akin, son-in-law Steve Chapple, brother-in-law Lane Attoe, sisters-in-law Carla Potts and Linda Potts, lifelong friend Janice Fredette and many more relatives and friends.
Isabel was greeted in heaven by her daughter Kari Chapple, sister Joan Attoe, brothers Darrel Potts, Lars Potts and Ron Potts and her parents AJ and Margaret.
The family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to the staff at ThedaCare Hospice and Cherry Meadows for their compassion and support to Isabel and her family in her final weeks. Especially nurses Krissy, Karen, Lisa, Bobbie, social worker Melody and her favorite CNA Rebecca. Your love and care for her was above and beyond what we could have asked for as a family.
Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose, WI. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of services at Holly’s. A private family burial will take place following the service. Instead of monetary donations, please consider donating to help others, like a student’s lunch account, the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society.
A special thank you to Isabel’s granddaughters, Samantha and Jenna and son-in-law Henry for their extraordinary care during Isabel’s final days.
“In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place, no one else will ever fill.”
