James C. Deist's Obituary
James Deist age 84 of Wild Rose, passed away on Thursday September 8, 2011 at his residence. James was born on June 26, 1927 the son of Arthur and Mabel (Farrell) Deist. James married his wife JoAnn Martin of 62 years on December 17, 1949 in Elkhorn, WI. James graduated from Milwaukee School of engineering and started his career with Hamilton Beach Company as a project engineer. He moved to Wild Rose in 1970 to operate Deist Forest Products, and later Deist Log Homes. He constructed many homes in the area. He built and operated the Pioneer Pub in Wild Rose for nine years. He enjoyed working with the customers and making new friends. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and gardening. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. James is survived by his wife JoAnn Deist of Wild Rose; three sons Thomas (Carla) Deist of Wild Rose, Pat Deist of Wild Rose and Tim (Dawn) Deist of Wild Rose; two daughters Diane Patterson of Wild Rose, and Laurie (Dan) Steffens of Wild Rose; twelve grandchildren Jeff (Richelle) Deist, Cara Deist, Blake Deist, Nicole Deist, Savannah (Chris) Bossart, Amber Patterson, Paige Patterson, Lindsay (Dan) Madsen, Alissa Steffens, April Steffens, Tyler Steffens, and Tanner Deist; five great grandchildren Dominic, Brock, Ethan, Linelle, and Riley; one sister Mary Lou (Merle) Schinke of Elkhorn, WI; two sister-in-laws Jean Deist, and Dorothy Martin; one brother-in-law John (Cindy) Martin, many other nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Mabel Deist; his brothers Jack Deist, and Jerome Deist; his daughter Linda Jones; daughter-in-law Michelle Deist; and son-in-law Dennis Patterson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday September 12, 2011 at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Plainfield at 11 A.M. Father Paul Lippert will officiate. Burial will be held in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4 – 7 P.M. at the Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose, and again at the church from 10 A.M. until the time of the service at 11 A.M.
