James Freeman's Obituary
Freeman, James Wilson , Jr. Lt. Freeman, of Oceanside, CA, died July 20, 2006 from lung cancer, after an extended illness. James was born in Toronto, Ohio July 20 1932 to Bertha P. Kidd and James W. Freeman Sr. He graduated from The Rayon School in Youngstown, Ohio in 1948. He served 23 years in the Navy, 13 years as an enlisted man and 10 years as a commissioned officer. James was selected for the Navy's first NESEP program and graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelors degree in electrical engineering in 1962. Following retirement in 1973, he dealt in the real estate rental market in San Diego. Jim was passionate about his family, bass fishing, and tennis. James is survived by his wife of 36 years, Joy (Scheller) Freeman, two daughters, Terri Freeman, and Karen Freeman McGuire, a son: James W. Freeman III, a grandson: Christopher Freeman, a sister: Mary Ellen (John) Coleman, and a brother: Jon (Mary) Freeman. His children are from a previous marriage to Robbie Baskin. A sister Jean Thompson and his parents preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI on Monday, July 31, 2006 at 11:00 AM, with visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Interment and Military Rites will be at the Ruckdashel Cemetery in Sugar Bush, WI. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca assisted the family with local arrangements.
