James Johnson Lazers' Obituary
James J. Lazers, age 93, of Waupaca, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Bethany Home in Waupaca. James was born on Sept. 27, 1924, the son of Alvin and Elsie (Johnson) Lazers. In 1942, James graduated from Marshall High School. He was joined in marriage to Marilyn Johnson on Sept. 29, 1944 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marshall, WI. They resided in Marshall and James was employed with Oscar Meyer Foods in Madison, WI for 40 years, retiring in 1982. After retirement, he worked part time at McKay Nursery in Waterloo, WI, where he worked until 1993. He had many passions in life such as hunting, fishing, boating and just being in the outdoors but most importantly, he loved spending time with his family. He was a humble man and a very loving father and grandfather. He especially enjoyed taking family fishing trips in Northern, WI.
James is survived by two sons, Larry (Jan) and Laine (Michelle) Lazers; a daughter, Linda Smith Fuenger; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; other close relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Lazers; his parents; three sisters, Mary, Genevieve and Evelyn; two brothers, Robert and Alvin Jr; and a special friend, Catherine Stuntebeck.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the Bethany Home Chapel of Waupaca beginning at 11 AM with Father Randy Timmerman officiating. Visitation will take place from 10 AM until the time of Services. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Bethany Walking Trail Fund. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Bethany for the loving care and compassion they showed their father.
