Mrs. Jeanne M. Smith, 85, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI on Friday, September 30, 2011. Jeanne was born in Milwaukee, WI on October 16, 1925. She studied art, Interior Design, and Library Science. Jeanne married the love of her life, Dr. James W. Smith, on June 15, 1946 and moved to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. In July, 1947, they moved to Racine, WI where they lived for over 50 years. They enjoyed retirement in Sarasota, FL. Jeanne loved her family and always put them first. She was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother. Jeanne was an accomplished artist who could work in any media. She enjoyed flying, tennis, sailing, cooking, and Interior Design. Jeanne was blessed with many friends that she loved dearly. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Betty Gillespie, DePere, WI; 5 children: David (Barb) Smith, Sarasota, Fl, Deborah (Richard) Schoengarth, Appleton, WI, Dianne (Klaus) Kistler, Fort Mill, S.C., Dean Smith, Sarasota, FL, and Danielle Smith, Grand Rapids, MN; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, and her parents.
A funeral mass will be held at the Wisconsin Veterans Home – Ainsworth Hall Chapel, in King, WI on Friday, October 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the Ainsworth Hall Chapel. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements. 715-258-4020.
