Joan C. (Babe) Knutson's Obituary
Joan C. (Babe) Knutson, age 78, of Waupaca passed away on her birthday, Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Crystal House. Babe was born in Chicago, IL on February 5, 1933, the daughter of the late William and Kathleen (McCarthy) Siemering. On July 30, 1951 Babe married Mervil Knutson in Waupaca. She worked for Woody's Cheese and Bowlby's Candy before she and Merv opened Knutson & Sons, which they ran for over 30 years. Babe was a very active member in the VFW Ladies Auxillary and loved bowling. She is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca. Babe is survived by her sons: Michael (Cheryl) Knutson, Berlin and Wayne (Pam) Knutson, Waupaca; her son-in-law: Allen Jensen, Rice Lake, WI; seven grandchildren: Tim (Stacey) Jensen, Minnesota; Bryan (Leslie) Jensen, River Falls; Michelle Knutson, Berlin; Melissa Knutson, Colorado Springs, CO; Tyler Knutson, Antigo; Nicole & Ashley (Jason Borden) Knutson, Waupaca and Emily Johnson, Iowa; eight great grandchildren: Katelind, Nicholas, Cecelia, Carter, Sophia, Madisen, Makade & Bentley; her brother-in-law: Bill Cook, Waupaca and her sisters-in-law: Ilda (Ken) Lewis, Waupaca and Audrey Pogue, Kentucky. Babe was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Merv, her daughter Linda Jensen, a grandson Tristan and a sister Leta Cook.
The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 11:30 AM at Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca with Reverend Jennifer DeNetz, officiating. Burial will be later in the spring in the Central WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday morning from 10 AM until the time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Babe's name to Cancer or Alzheimer's research organizations of your choice.
