age 70 - died on Friday, April 9, 2010 at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca after a hard fought one month battle with lung cancer. She was born on November 21, 1939 in Pine River, WI, the daughter of Nels and Dorothy (Christensen) Johnson. She married Roger Fay on March 1, 1958 in Pine River, WI. He preceded her in death on January 11, 1998.
Joan is survived by her son; Donald (Sue) Fay of Waupaca, three daughters; Valerie Fay of Scandinavia, Nina Fay of Waupaca, and Mindy (Dave) Comiskey of Chicago, Il, eight grandchildren; Bryan, Brandon, and Ashley Fay, Michael and Matthew McClelland, Cody and Kelsey Much, and Sami Comiskey, three great grandchildren; Sydney, Hailey, and Avery McClelland, special friend; Bob Johnson of Waupaca, sisters; Judy (James) Peskie of Waupaca, Janice (Pat) Hetzel of Weyauwega, and Jean (Bill) Peters of Weyauwega, step-sisters; Nina (Charlie) Wolfe of Pewaukee, Barbara (Gene) Thompson of Arkansas, and step-brother; John (Debbie) Fausch of Tennessee. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Roger, grandson Zachary Fay, her parents, and her step-mother Arlene Johnson.
Joan had been a homemaker for most of her adult life. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed bowling and going for rides.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI with the Reverend Dr. Charles Tews, officiating. Interment will be in the Pine River Cemetery in Pine River, WI. A visitation will be held at the Holly Funeral Home on Monday evening from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
