Age 82 – passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 18, 1930 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Elmer and Phyllis (Foss) Frank. She married Warren D. Jones on June 16, 1951 at Mt. Morris Holden Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on August 28, 2002.
Joan is survived by her children: Warren M. (Lori) Jones of Wild Rose, Kathleen (Will) Frater of McFarland, and Michael (Janet) Jones of Wild Rose, grandchildren: Christopher Frater, Jennifer Frater, Nikki (Alan) Verheyden, Kari Jones, Craig Jones, Lindsay (Dan) Madsen, and great grandchildren: Ethan and Linelle Madsen. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Warren, her son, Richard, her parents, three sisters: Elaine Olson, Lynn Frank, and Marlene Bohl, and two brothers-in-law: Walden Olson and Al Bohl.
Joan had attended Waushara County Normal School and received a degree in Teaching in 1949. She had been a member of the Wild Rose Lioness Club for many years. She had taught Sunday school and confirmation at the Wild Rose Presbyterian Church. Warren and Joan had owned and operated Jones Lanes in Wild Rose, and in 1969 they purchased 120 acres and developed Pineland Park Mobile Home and Campsites. Joan had a number of interests including reading, needlecraft, ceramics, baking, swimming, and bowling. She was also a dog lover. Another love she had was movies and television in the last years of her life, and Anne of Green Gables was a favorite to watch with her grandchildren. She loved spending time with her children, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren.
Per her wishes no funeral services are being scheduled. A Celebration of her Life will be held in April. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Wild Rose Lion/Lioness Club in memory of Joan P. Jones. The Holly Funeral Home of Wild Rose, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
