Dear Kelly and family,
We are so saddened to hear of Joan's passing. Though it has been many years since we left Waupaca (1990), we have kept up a bit on Facebook and have enjoyed Joan's posts about family and being a grandma! I loved one summer when I was able to visit and have lunch with Joan after too many years away. It was like we had never been apart, and she reassured me that she always felt that I was a special friend. That was how I felt about Joan too. We had lots of fun in our early days of teaching. I learned so much from her! I still smile about the painful time she broke her nose during one of our softball games, because she turned it into a creative writing lesson with her 2nd graders. She always knew how to make me laugh. I am sad that I can't arrange another lunch, but I look forward to a grand picnic in Heaven. God bless you and yours. May He comfort you and walk with you during your journey of grief. We pray for only warm beautiful memories to fill your minds and hearts while you wait to be with Joan again.
