John D. Burns Sr.'s Obituary
John D. Burns Sr., age 78, of Almond, Wi passed away Thursday, August 12, 2010 at his residence. John was born in Stevens Point on October 7, 1931, the son of the late John E. and Leola (Allen) Burns. John farmed in the Town of Almond his entire life. He was a former supervisor & chairman of the Town of Almond. He also served on the St. Martins Cemetery Board. John married Carol VanDrunen on October 20, 1951 and she preceded him in death on November 19, 1992. John is a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Plainfield. John is survived by his children: Barbara (Frank Mills) Burns, Canberry, Australia; Susan (Kenneth) Young, Almond; Deborah (Joe Borchert) Kluck, Stevens Point; John D. (Darlene) Burns Jr., Bancroft and Paul (Cynthia) Burns, Florence, Oregon; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive. John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carol, two brothers Robert & Tom and his sister Ann Fingar. The Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, August 17 at 11 AM at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Plainfield with Father Paul Lippert, officiating. Burial will be in St. Martin's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday morning from 9 to 11 AM at St. Paul's Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Portage County. Hardell-Holly Funeral Home in Almond is assisting the family with arrangements.
