John Kirsling's Obituary
John R. Kirsling, age 89, of Amherst, Wisconsin , died Tuesday, November 28th, 2006 at St. Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point. He was born in Amherst Jct. on February 5, 1917, the son of John J. and Helen (Bischoff). John married Alice Lubecke on July 26, 1941 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church - Fancher. John's passion was harness racing. He raised and trained horses all his life, racing throughout the United States and Canada. He owned Kirsling Motor Company in Amherst Jct. and Amherst for forty years. John is survived by Wife: Alice Kirsling, Amherst; Sons: Richard (Elaine) Kirsling, Amherst; Alan (Cathy) Kirsling, Waupaca; Daughter: Rita Krembs, Washburn, WI; Grandsons: James Krembs, Simi Valley, CA; Jon (Tammy) Kirsling, Amherst; Jason (Jenny) Kirsling, Amherst; Great Grandchildren: Landry, Alyssa, Adam, and Jacob; Sister: Renetta Tetzloff, Stevens Point. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and three brothers. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Friday, December 1, 2006 at Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst, with Father Robert Pedretti officiating. Interment will be in St. James Catholic Cemetery in Amherst. A visitation will be held Friday at the funeral home from 10 AM until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in John's memory. John will be greatly missed by all of his family.
