JOHN L. PALKO
WAUSHARA COUNTY RESIDENT Age 84 passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Rosemor Village in Wild Rose, WI. He was born April 2, 1923 in Superior, WI; son of Frank and Sophie (Kovacs) Palko. As a child he lived in St. Josephs Orphanage, Superior WI after his mother passed away. He later moved to Fond du Lac and married Dorothy Slater. His second wife was Oreline Kilp, Oshkosh. John later decided the single life was for him. He tended bar for about 10 years at the Golden Nugget in Pine River after his retirement from Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac. He could be found at the Nugget playing cribbage when he had a moment to spare. He later moved to the town of Rose, where he lived nearby his daughter and family. John moved to Rosemor Village in December 2007, where he met many wonderful residents and staff. John was a loving father and took care of his children. He loved to watch the birds, deer, possums and other WI wildlife from his window as he drank his morning coffee and worked on wood crafts. John was an outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, and work outside. John will be missed much by his relatives and friends. John is survived by:

Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jimmy, Steven, and Frank Palko; and four sisters, Helen, Sophie, Elizabeth, and Margaret. A Memorial Visitation will be on Sunday, March 9, 2008 from 12:00 - 4:00 PM at the Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose, WI. Burial will be in the spring at Oak Hill Cemetery in Wild Rose, WI.
