John H. Schroder's Obituary
John H. Schroder, age 92 of King, Wl passed away on Friday, June 24,2022 at Wl
Veterans Home in King. John was born on December 28,1929; son of the late Fred and
Clara (Ask) Schroder in Luck, Wl. On February 28, 1951 he enlisted in the Army, serving during the Korean War. He was honorable discharged in 1953.
John is survived by his sister Clarice Threlkeld and many relatives. John loved the sport of fishing and hunting. Throughout his lifetime, John was a longtime member of Doetown deer hunting camp, est. in 1945 by his father and others. John also had a cottage on the Totagatic flowage that his brother Bernie had built for him on his newly acquired lake property in the mid 50’s. John occupied the cottage for many years prior to moving to the Vets home in King, Wl. John also made many fishing trips to Canada with groups of people from the surrounding area of Luck, Wl. John also hunted elk in Durango, Colorado accompanied by his friend Dan and his brother Hilton and wife Peggy. Later on, for every deer season for 15 years, John would spend the week hunting with his friend, Dan in Wl. When Dan moved to Arkansas John was invited to Arkansas for a week of fishing instead of deer hunting. John accepted and got a weeks pass from the Vets home and drove himself to Dan's lake house and enjoyed a week of fishing. At that time John was 85 years old.
John had a full life and will be missed. Although John outlived all of his old friends there
were many siblings of his companions that remember John well.
Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Central Wl Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, Wl. Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
