I am so sorry for your loss, John, Mick Sannes and I shared a house together our senior year at UW Madison. We probably spent more time playing cribbage than studying and at the end of the year John had won perhaps a dozen more games then I. We both got a kick out of that.

Our relationship with the Stanges goes back to knowing John's mother Lois. Our first house in Waupaca was decorated by Lois. As recently as 2 years ago, John and Liz helped us with purchasing furniture, including a favorite of John's, a Stressless chair. It never ceased to amaze us of how joyful a spirit John had. It was evident that he loved life and he loved his store. He made you feel comfortable and welcome with no pressure. We loved talking to him about politics and life in general. Praise God for his presence in all of our lives. He touched us all with his love and joy! May God comfort the Stange family. Prayers go out to Lois and family. His loss has created a hole in many people's lives.
I think what impressed me most about John was his smile and his cheerful attitude that he had toward others. It saddens me that he will be leaving his family way too soon and that he leaves a hole in the community. He was such a nice guy and definitely will be missed. Our hearts go out to his family.

I mostly knew John as a customer of his glorious store. I needed almost a whole houseful of furniture in 2008 and John made multiple trips to my home to exchange things or whatever I wanted to do. He was so patient and extremely helpful. I became a loyal customer from that point on. In 2020, My husband Ted and I purchased a home right across from the Stanges on Sunset Lake. We would boat by and see John and Liz down by the water enjoying each other and the lake. It breaks my heart that John worked all of his life and was taken way to soon before he could enjoy more time on the lake. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Stange family.
