John R. Tess' Obituary
John R. Tess, age 82, of Almond, WI, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. He was born March 29, 1942 in Duluth, MN; son of Ralph and Arloine (Krohn) Tess. John moved from Minnesota to Almond, WI when he was just two years old. He farmed in the Almond area for 60 years, starting out as a chicken farmer for egg production and later to crop farming for Del Monte and other canneries. On February 14, 1974, John married Dorothy Epp in Almond. He was a perfect gentleman through the years, not only to his wife, but to others he encountered. John will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.
John is survived by his wife Dorothy Tess of Almond, WI; a brother Raymond (JoAnn) Tess of Almond, WI; nieces and nephews: Rachel Tess of Almond, WI, Michael Tess of Almond, WI, Elizabeth (Jon) Dettmann of Otsego, MI, Mary (Spencer) Cook of Kalamazoo, MI, Karen (Mike) Lott of Franklinton, LA, Thomas Christiansen of the Los Angeles, CA area, and Judy (Thor) Storfjell of Portland, OR; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and Dorothy's niece and nephews: Stacy Taylor of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Bryan Maulsby of Oakdale, WI, and Brent Maulsby of Rolling Stone, MN.
John was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Arloine Tess; a sister Lois (Dr. T.W.) Christiansen; a nephew Johann Pater Storfjell; and a sister-in-law Rose Epp.
A Funeral Service for John will be on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1340 Elm Street, Almond, WI. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will take place following the service at East German Methodist Cemetery in Almond. The Hardell-Holly Funeral Home of Almond is assisting the family with arrangements.
