John M. Wicinske's Obituary
John Matthew Wicinske, age 75, passed away on July 26, 2023, in Neenah, Wisconsin. He was born on December 3, 1947, in Appleton, Wisconsin, to John and Lorraine Wicinske. John met his true love, Sandra Kluba, just months before graduating from high school in 1966, and the couple married on August 12, 1967, in Appleton, Wisconsin. John and Sandy shared 53 years of love and memories until her passing in 2021.
John (or “Jock” as family and friends often called him) lived a fulfilling life, leaving behind cherished memories and a lasting impact on those who knew him. During his life, John displayed unwavering dedication and commitment. He served his country faithfully in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, demonstrating immense bravery and valor in the face of adversity.
Following his military service, John continued to serve the community on the Appleton Fire Department, dedicating himself to ensuring the safety and well-being of others. As Battalion Chief, his exemplary leadership and selflessness inspired those he worked with and earned him the admiration and respect of his peers through his retirement in 2001.
Family was at the core of John's life, and he was a loving and devoted father to his two children, Shelley (Jolie Snow) Wicinske and John (Claire) Wicinske. John's sister, Judy Gosha, remained a steadfast presence in his life, providing love and support throughout his life. He cherished every moment spent with them and instilled in them the values of compassion, integrity, and resilience.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra Wicinske (Kluba), his parents, John and Lorraine Wicinske, his brother, Jeffery Wicinske, brother-in-law, Mike Gosha, and parents-in-law, George and Olive Kluba. Their memories will forever be treasured in the hearts of those who loved them.
In addition to his professional achievements and dedication to his family, John will be fondly remembered for his warm smile, compassionate nature, and the positive impact he made on the lives of countless individuals.
A memorial service to celebrate John's life will be held at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 1:00 PM. A memorial visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the time of service.
As we say goodbye to John, let us carry his legacy in our hearts, remembering the love and kindness he shared with all those around him. May he and Sandy rest in eternal peace together.
