JON M. PETERSEN
WAUPACA, WISCONSIN Age 60, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2008 with his wife at his side at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca, WI. He was born September 3, 1947 in Omaha, NE; son of Reverend Adolf S. and Marie M. (Larsen) Petersen. On June 2, 1973, Jon married Amber Foster in Waupaca, WI. Jon was committed to his mission work which took him to Belize, Venezuela, Algeria, and Uganda. He was deeply involved with helping the people of the Western Sahara. Jon loved working on his land, enjoying nature. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family. Jon was a member of Faith Community Church in Waupaca, WI. Phillip (Mickey) Petersen of Minneapolis, MN
Sister: Miriam (Peter) Burrows of Silver City, NM
Father in heart to: Agaila Abba Hemeida of Appleton, WI
Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Adolf (Pastor Pete) and Marie Petersen. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 11:30 AM at Faith Community Church in Waupaca, WI. Pastor Paul Stevens will officiate. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9:00 - 11:30 AM at the church. Burial will be at South New Hope Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of New Hope on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in the name of Jon Petersen to help the children of Uganda.
