JONAS OSCAR OQUIST, JR.
WAUPACA, WI (FORMERLY OF OGEMA, WI AND MILWAUKEE, WI) Age 81 – died on Thursday, April 28, 2005 at Bethany Home in Waupaca, WI. He was born on July 25, 1923 in Irma, WI, a son of the late Jonas Oscar and Anna (Lofquist) Oquist, Sr. He married Helen Simon on August 25, 1951 in Milwaukee, WI. Jonas is survived by his wife: Helen, five children: Janice (Philip) Blohm, Sr. of Waupaca, WI, Dennis Oquist of Madison, WI, Curtis Oquist of Milwaukee, WI, Glenn (Patricia) Oquist of Junction City, KS, and Lynette (Lee) Bagley of Mountain Home, ID, six grandchildren: Philip (Eleanor) Blohm, Jr., Tabitha (Dennis) Pierce, Tricia (Martin) Bownik, Christina Oquist-Tucker, Melissa Oquist, and Jessica Oquist, nine great grandchildren: Andrew Blohm, Benjamin Blohm, Michael Blohm, Aria Pierce, Emily Pierce, Moriah Bownik, Desirae Oquist, Gabrielle Oquist, and Haylie Oquist-Tucker, a sister: Catherine, and two brothers: Fredrick (Jean) Oquist and John Ludwig (Maxine) Oquist. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters: Esther Henderson, twin sister: Margaret Reichert, and Mary Ann Oquist. He attended the First Assembly of God Church in Waupaca. He had been employed as a dry waller with various construction companies for many years. He had also been a lumberjack, done some farming, worked on an assembly line, and worked for a group known as Green Thumb. He enjoyed baseball, fishing, deer hunting, music (especially the piano) and animal watching. He had served his church as a church deacon, treasurer, a Sunday school teacher, and a bible teacher. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the First Assembly of God Church in Waupaca, WI, with the Reverend Bob Bohn, officiating. Interment will be in the Merrill Memorial Park in Merrill, WI. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday morning from 9:30 – 11:00 AM. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
