Joseph "Joe" A. Modrzewski Jr.'s Obituary
Joseph A. Modrzewski Jr., age 93, of Stevens Point, WI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, with his loving family by his side.
Joe was born on July 22, 1932, in Stevens Point, the son of the late Joseph Sr. and Theressa (Meronek) Modrzewski. On November 28, 1964, he was united in marriage to Elsie Hoppa. She preceded him in death on November 5, 2020. Following Elsie's passing, Joe later married Kathleen Biadasz on August 14, 2021.
Joe worked various jobs which include Emil Perzinski Farms, Point Block Company, Jeorn's furniture company and the Betro Farms. Joe also served at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church - Fancher. He served at St. Mary's from August 1987 to June 2015 for a total of 28 years. He still ushered up until 2022.
Joe had a heart of gold; he would do anything for anyone. He enjoyed visits from family and friends. He also enjoyed listening to polka music, playing cards and shaking dice. In his early years, he enjoyed bowling, playing billiards and playing darts.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Modrzewski; his daughters, Colleen Modrzewski and Janet (Steven) Cram; sister, Ann Omernik; along with many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elsie; infant son, Dennis and brother, John Modrzewski.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026, at St. James Catholic Church in Amherst. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. Burial will follow at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery.
