Josephine Konkol's Obituary
Josephine V. Konkol, age 95, Stevens Point, formerly of Amherst, passed away on Friday, March 25th, 2005 at St. Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point. She was born in Town of Weston, Marathon Co., WI., on March 16, 1910, a daughter of the late John and Anastasia (Landowski) Wanta. On 10/24/1932 She married Edward P. Konkol on October 24, 1932 in Hatley, WI. He prececed her in death on January 17, 1981. Josephine enjoyed music. Throughout her life, she played the piano and organ and sang. Prior to her marriage, she played the organ at St. Agnes Church in Callon. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, was a creative seamstress and enjoyed playing cards, especially smear and sheepshead. Josephine lived to serve the Lord through her everyday deeds, participating in church activities and daily attendance at the Mass. Most of all, she loved being with family and friends, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church at Fancher and was a honorary member of St. Mary's Rosary Society. Survivors include - 3 Sons: James (Arlene) Konkol, Muskego, WI.; Edward (Ceil) Konkol Jr., Amherst, WI.; George (Judy) Konkol, Amherst Jct., WI.; 6 Daughters: Margaret (Jerome) Iwanski, Amherst Jct., WI.; Patricia (Emil) Polum, Whiting, WI.; Mary Jane (William) Klement, Hales Corners, WI.; Irene Slowinski, Stevens Point, WI.; Natalie Barb (Ted) Kaminski, Hatley, WI.; Grace (Lawrence) Gibbs, Amherst Jct., WI.; 39 Grandchildren; 46 Great Grandchildren; a Sister-in-law: Susie Wanta, Green Bay, WI.. Josephine is further survived by nurmerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward, a son - Maynard, one grandson, a great-grandaughter, three brothers - Henry, Emil and Adam Wanta, and a sister - Susan Stoltz. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church - Fancher at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, March 29th, with Father Robert Pedretti officiating. Interment will be in the St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 until 8 PM at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst with a Rosary Service at 7:30 PM. Visitation also on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in the name of Josephine Konkol.
