Joyce M. Kowal's Obituary
Joyce Marie Kowal, passed away peacefully on September 22nd, 2025. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Joyce Glainyk married the love of her life, Chester Kowal, on July 5, 1952. Their decades-long marriage was a testament to enduring commitment, built on a foundation of faith and family that guided them through life's joys and challenges.
Joyce was a mother to her five children: Chris (Mary) Kowal of Milwaukee, Kathy (Tim) Burzynski of Milwaukee, Joe (Rachel) Kowal of Stevens Point, John (Cindy) Kowal of Custer, and Jeanne (Chris) Hintz of Stevens Point. Nothing brought her more joy than her role as "Matka" to her 17 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She spoiled them with love, favorite treats, and a lifetime of creating memories that will be treasured forever.
A woman who found joy in the simple things, Joyce loved television, chocolate, and her all-time favorite, Elvis. These small pleasures brought countless smiles to her family.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chester; three siblings; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; and one great-grandson. While her absence leaves a profound ache in the hearts of those who loved her, there is comfort in knowing she has been reunited with those who went before her.
A Visitation for Joyce will be held at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home on Saturday, September 27th from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at The Lodge at Whispering Pines and the hospice team for their exceptional care and kindness during Joyce's final days. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst is assisting the family with arrangements.
