Joyce Stillman's Obituary
Joyce L. Stillman (nee Pomerenke), age 77, of Waupaca, WI passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Bethany Home in Waupaca after a 4 year battle with dementia. She was born on July 22, 1931 in the Town of Dayton, Waupaca County, the youngest child of the late Edgar and Edna (Soper) Pomerenke. Joyce attended Waupaca High School, graduating in 1948 at the age of 16. She was confirmed at and a life-long member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waupaca. On June 10, 1950, she married Eldred Stillman, and they shared 58 years together. Joyce was employed as a waitress with the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI for 15 years and as a dietary aide at Bethany Home for another 15 years. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, traveling, country music, going to casinos, dancing (polkas and waltzes), animals and the beauty of nature. Joyce and her husband Eldred took many bus trips to Branson and Nashville. Her favorite performers were Johnny Cash and the Statler Brothers. Joyce also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Eldred, Waupaca; her son, Scott (Sue), granddaughters, Robyn and Jamie Stillman, all of Appleton, WI; and sister-in-law, Delores Stillman, Combined Locks, WI. Joyce is further survived by aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Edgar Jr.; her sister, Lorraine (Delmar) Bricko; a sister-in-law, Marian (Gaylord) Forseth; and a brother-in-law, Wallace Stillman. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2009, at Noon at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waupaca with Rev. Jeffrey Holtan and Rev. Aaron Winkelman officiating. Interment will be in the Central WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, King. Visitation will take place at the church on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of the service. The Holly Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Joyce’s family would like to thank Dr. Goldberg, Dr. Adler-Fischer, and Dr. Kile; as well as the staffs at Bethany Home and the Weyauwega Health Care Center for all of the care and support that they provided to Joyce over the years.
