Joyce M. Waedow's Obituary
Joyce Marie Waedow, age 91, of Wild Rose passed away May 11, 2019 at Rosemore Village under the care of ThedaCare At Home Hospice.
She was born on May 29, 1927 in Wild Rose, the daughter of Henry McKinley "Mac" and Elsie (Hilscher) Jenks. Joyce graduated from Wild Rose High School in 1944. She moved to Chicago where she married Gerald "Jerry" Knutson also of Wild Rose. She worked in Personnel Administration for the U S Navy and Powers Regulator Company for 22 years. In 1968 she married SGM Erwin "Doc" Waedow, Chicago, IL and moved to Germany as an Army spouse. Following retirement, she returned to Wild Rose in 1973 and made her home on the Jenks family farm. Over the years Joyce enjoyed gardening, travel, family events, her cats, playing cards and all things chocolate. She was an avid reader and always well informed. She was a charter member of the Wild Rose Lioness club and active in the Wild Rose Hospital Auxiliary.
Joyce is survived by her son Rick (Nihal) Knutson, Rockledge, FL; two grandchildren Kristine (Joe) Warner, Fish Creek, Kevin (Yan Rong) Knutson, Wild Rose; three great-grandchildren Kelson Warner, Kira Warner, and Tristin Warner of Fish Creek. Surviving nieces and nephews include Steve (Patty) Mankowski, Wild Rose, Cindi (Tom) Gotthart, Wild Rose, Roger Mankowski, Wild rose, Dan Jenks, Wild Rose, Kirby Jenks, Wild Rose, Mark Jenks, Wild Rose.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Dorothy (Tom) Mankowski, brother Roy (Edna) Jenks, brother Clair (Joan) Jenks, and husband Doc Waedow.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose at 12 noon. Pastor Pamela Priewe will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Town of Rose. A luncheon will be held at the Wild Rose Lions Club immediately following the services.
