Julie Ann McCaffrey's Obituary
Julie Ann McCaffrey, 68, of Wild Rose, Wisconsin, passed away on May 11, 2026, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born on January 6, 1958, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the late Frank and Virginia Prochnow, Julie grew up with a spark that never dimmed and a warmth that drew people in from the very start.
Julie was the kind of person who rarely met a stranger. Spunky, caring, and always willing to lend a hand, she had a way of making everyone around her feel like family. She spent over 30 years waitressing at the Longbranch, where her quick wit and genuine kindness made her a favorite among regulars and newcomers alike. For Julie, every table was a chance to connect, share a laugh, and brighten someone's day. Beyond the restaurant, Julie poured her heart into running an in-home daycare, nurturing countless little ones with the same love and patience she gave her own family. She was a talented crafter and a gifted baker, always creating something special, whether it was a homemade decoration or a fresh batch of treats. She loved playing cards and games, and anyone who sat down at her table knew they were in for a good time. Julie had a well-known sweet tooth and a love for late-night snacking that her family will remember with fond, knowing smiles. But above all else, her grandchildren were her light. She treasured every moment spent with them, filling their lives with activities, laughter, and unconditional love. Julie is survived by her husband, Greg McCaffrey; her son, Timothy (Holly) Marshall; her daughter, Lynn (Jordan) Chaplin; her brother, James (Judy) Prochnow; and her grandchildren (Lucas, Abigail, Crew, Worth, and one on the way) who meant the world to her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Virginia Prochnow. Julie lived with an open heart and a generous spirit, and those who loved her find comfort in knowing that kind of light doesn't simply go out. It lives on in every life she touched, every child she cared for, and every person she welcomed as a friend.
Special thanks to all friends and family who rallied together to make her last week’s peaceful and full of love. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends when arrangements are finalized.
