Mark Matiszik
I happened to do a Google search on "Matiszik" yesterday, and came across the news of Kamila's passing. I'm very sad to hear about her being gone, and have passed the news along to as many people on my grandfather John Matiszik's (Adolph's brother) side of the family as possible. I have very, very fond memories of my Great Aunt Kamila, since she and Adolph lived only a few houses from us in Milwaukee during the first seven years of my life up to 1974. She was one of my first babysitters, and I remember going to her house for cookies and a hug often while growing up. We saw each other only sporadically over the last few decades, but I do have one great memory that will always stay with me that happened at my wedding on July 16, 1994. After the best man gave his toast, and after my father had spoken, Kamila stepped up and asked for the microphone. In front of a much larger crowd than I had ever spoken in front of, she burst into song, in Polish, and by the end had won over the crowd. It was fun, special, and definitely added to the day. I'll remember her joy, and her smile, and will always think of her fondly. 98 years - that's an impressive life! Mark Matiszik
