Katherine Hansen's Obituary
Mrs. Katherine Marie Hansen, age 94, of Waupaca, Wisconsin, passed away Tuesday, January 20th, 2009 at Bethany Home. Katherine was born in Town of St. Lawrence, in Waupaca County on March 3, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Peter K. and Emma (Peterson) Johnson. On Sept 5, 1936, she married Levi Martin Hansen in Waupaca. He preceded her in death on June 16, 1988. Katherine and Levi operated Hansen's Keenway Grocery Store in the Third ward in the 1950's. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she served as chairperson of the Bethel Circle and was a Charter Member of the Riverside Medical Center Auxillary. Katherine worked in the Hot Lunch program at the Riverside Elementary school. She enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her Daughter: Mona (Gerald) Smith, Waupaca; Son: Donald (Kathy) Hansen, New London; Grandchildren: Julie (Pat) Kesler, Waupaca; Lori (Jason) Pagel, Waupaca; Linda (Brian) Hoelzel, Waupaca; Tina (Todd) Jensen; Tim (Patti) Hansen; Great Grandchildren: Christopher Kesler; Samuel Kesler; Emma Pagel; Carter Hoelzel; Bennett Hoelzel; Joshua Jensen; Brandon (Amber) Jensen; Amber Jensen; Alyssa Hansen; Evan Hansen. Katherine is also survived by nieces and nephews other relatives and special friends: Robert & Bev Whitman of Waupaca She was preceded in death by her Husband: Levi Hansen, infant Grandson, Great Grandson: Tyler Hoelzel; Sisters: Clara Plowman & Elethia Jensen; Brother: Clarence Johnson; two Brothers-in-law: Harold Plowman and Robert Jensen and a sister-in-law: Dorothy Johnson. Funeral Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 23rd, with Reverend Dr. Charles Tews officiating. Interment will be in the spring at Lakeside Memorial Park Waupaca in Waupaca. Visitation will be held Friday from 9:30-11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church. A memorial has been established in the name of Katherine M. Hansen. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
