Kathleen "Kathy" M. Welch's Obituary
Kathleen "Kathy" M. Welch, 87, of Waupaca, passed away at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center - Appleton, on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. Kathleen was born in Waunakee, Dane Co., Wisconsin on October 3, 1928, daughter of the late Dewey and Margaret (Podhola) Marsh.
Kathy graduated from UW Madison with a degree in dietetics. Kathy volunteered at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King as part of the American Legion Auxiliary and has over 10,000 volunteer hours logged. She was also a multiple past president of the Auxiliary. Kathy was also active in both the Dane Co. and Waupaca Co. Mental Health Association. She loved reading, knitting, sewing, and flower and vegetable gardening, and music. Later in life, Kathy enjoyed traveling, both at home and abroad.
Kathy is survived by: daughter Mary (William) Ferreter; sons Robert Welch and Jim (Kathy Fuehrer Welch) Welch; grandchildren Elizabeth (Brandon) Hennefer, Rachael (Jason) Cross, Sarah (James) Oman, James Ferreter, Jennifer (Scott) Mitts, Katie Welch, and Benjamin Welch; 8 great-grandchildren; and brother James P. Marsh. Kathy is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband John; sister Arlene; and brother Bob.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, with Fr. Amal Roche officiating. Relatives and friends may visit the family at The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, from 4 -7 PM, and again at the church on Thursday, from 10 AM until the time of service. Burial will be held at the Central WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery - King at 9:30 AM on Friday, June 17, 2016.
