Kathleen "Katie" M. Moser's Obituary
Kathleen “Katie” Mary (Bennett) Moser passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 11, 2023. Katie was born on May 9, 1947 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital to Duane John Bennett and Olive Marie (Gorman) Bennett. She grew up in Waukesha, Wisconsin and graduated from Catholic Memorial High School in 1965. Katie attended The Gardner School of Business in Silver Spring, Maryland and then worked as a legal secretary at the law firm of Foley, Sammond, and Lardner in Milwaukee. There she met Fredrick Moser, and they were united in marriage on December 28, 1968. They settled in Wild Rose, Wisconsin in 1975 where they raised their three children: Lisa Kathleen, Fredrick Paul Jr., and Tammy Jeanne.
Katie was a beloved mom who volunteered at school, was a Cub Scout den leader, coached Little League Baseball and Junior Bowling, and served as treasurer of the Wild Rose Booster Club. She was elected as town clerk for the Town of Springwater in 1989 and served for 26 years, retiring in 2015. She also loved her work as treasurer of Caersalem Cemetery Association, which she continued up until her passing.
Katie was a devoted caregiver to her husband and an avid reader, always amazing her children with her knowledge of history. She enjoyed the Packers, counted cross-stitch sewing, puzzles and word games, playing bingo with her sister-in-law Mary, dinners out with her dear friend Irene Williams, sitting in her sunroom watching the flowers grow, and spending time with her family.
She will be greatly missed by her children Lisa (John) Williams, Fredrick Moser Jr., and Tammy Barnaby; her grandchildren Ryan (Kate), Molly, and Haley Williams, and Max, Alex, and Zachary Barnaby; and her new great-granddaughter Ellie Joy. She is further survived by her brother and sister-in law Charles and Judy Bennett; sister-in-law Mary Bertzyk; and nieces and nephews. Katie was preceded in death by her husband Fred; parents Duane and Olive Bennett; sister Barbara Regenfuss; father- and mother-in-law Frank and Emma Moser; sister-in-law Jean Draves; brothers-in-law Jerry Draves, Babe Bertzyk, and Frank Moser Jr.; nephew Larry Bertzyk Jr., and best friend Sally Carpenter.
Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose. Deacon Bob Precourt will officiate. Burial will follow at Caersalem Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of service at Noon. In lieu of flowers, the family is establishing a memorial in Katie’s name at the Wisconsin Historical Society. The family would like to extend its sincere thanks to the incredible and compassionate staff of UW Health University Hospital in Madison.
