Kathryn M. Hirte's Obituary
Kathryn M. Hirte (nee Rowland), passed away unexpectedly Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Riverside Medical Center. Kathryn was born in Waupaca, WI on February 28, 1933 the daughter of Walter and Clara (Brandum) Rowland. She graduated from Waupaca High School in 1951. Kathryn married Benjamin C. Hirte on June 26, 1954. They celebrated 51 years of marriage before Ben preceded her in death on October 21, 2005. Kathryn worked for Waupaca County Health and Human Services, and retired after nearly 30 years of service. She was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was especially proud to be a charter member. She was active in the Sarah Circle, OWLS and the Trinity Couples Club. Kathryn loved to travel, spend time with family and friends at home, and at her cottage on Taylor Lake. She especially enjoyed her 15 grandchildren, her 4 great grandchildren, and looked forward to her 2 expectant great grandchildren. Kathryn enjoyed shopping and luncheon excursions with her family and her many special friends. She looked forward to celebrating holidays, birthdays, and other special occasions, oftentimes bringing her wonderful apple pies. Kathryn passed along the family's history to her children and grandchildren, and her stories of the past will be missed. Kathryn is survived by children: David (Nancy) Hirte, Lana (Richard) Wood, Sheri (Dale) Hines, Joni (Timothy)Suhs, Marcia (Tracy) Johnson, all of Waupaca, WI; Paul (Patty) Hirte of Kaukauna, WI; grandchildren; Michael (Melanie) Hirte, Erin and Kari Hirte, Benjamin (Autumn) Wood, Megan (Andrew Wilcox) Wood, and Jacob Wood; Mara (Bobby) Schulz, and Mathew (Molly) Hines; Todd and Tori Suhs; Carl, Craig, and Marcus Johnson; Chad and Kathryn Hirte; Great Grandchildren, Adilyn Schulz, Brogan Hirte, Mallory and Nathan Hines: Sisters; Norma (Stan) Bergum, Rice Lake, WI; Shirley (Dennis) Borndale, St Paul MN, She is further survived by Brother-in-law, Duane (Karrie) Hirte, Poulsen, WA and Sister-in -law, Iris Rogers, Waupun, WI. Kathryn is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ben; brother and sister-in-law, Delano and Pat Rowland, brother-in-law, Clifford Rogers, and sister-in-law, Cecile Hirte, and twin infant grandsons.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca with Rev. Dr. Charles Tews, officiating. Interment will be in Lakeside Memorial Park in Waupaca. A visitation will be held 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 13 at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, and on Wednesday, at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established in Kathryn's name.
