Kenneth D. Owens' Obituary
Kenneth D. Owens of Wautoma passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at the age of 92, at the Heartland House. He was in hospice a very short time. He was born on September 9, 1933 in the town of Wild Rose, the youngest of nine children. He went to school in Wild Rose, worked on the family farm and played basketball in high school. After graduation he enlisted in the Army Airborne. First at Fort Riley, Kansas then Fort Bragg, North Carolina as a paratrooper during the Korean War era. After Army Airborne he met and married his first wife, Theresa (Barker) Owens. Together they had two children and divorced after 31 years. He later married Patricia (Thalacker) Owens and they were married for 38 1/2 years. He had a daughter, Cynthia (Chris) Stohl of Redgranite, WI and a son, David Owens of Thornhill, TN. He had seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. While married to Patricia Owens he had two stepchildren, Larry (Cheryl) Thacker of Wild Rose, WI and Tammy (Jeff) Smith of Fond du Lac, WI, and he had three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He enjoyed traveling a lot for years, and even went on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. to visit the war memorials for one day in 2013, which he loved to see. He worked at a few places such as at the cheese factory in Wild Rose, Rueping and Leather Company in Fond du Lac, Green Giant in Rosendale, California Canners and Graowers in Lomira and Galloway West Milk Company in Fond du Lac. At age 61 he retired, and he and his wife Pat lived in Fond du Lac for many years until moving into Heartland House 2 1/2 years ago.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 11th at Holly Funeral Home on Highway H in Wild Rose. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. with services to follow at 11:00 a.m. He will be cremated after a small Military funeral.
The family would like to thank all doctors, nurses and caregivers from Aurora Medical Center Hospital in Oshkosh, Juliette Manor, Berlin and Heartland House in Wautoma. Thanks also to his primary care doctor and nurses at Aurora Family Clinic in Wautoma.
He had a lot of family, relatives, friends and nice neighbors over the years. He will be very missed.
