Kristy K. Nielsen's Obituary
Kristy Kay Nielsen (Borchert), age 62, of Waupaca, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
Kristy was born on January 4, 1964, in Iola, Wisconsin, to Randall and Karen (Madson) Borchert. She was the first New Year's baby born in Waupaca County in 1964. On July 13, 1984, she married the love of her life, Christian D. Nielsen, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca. Together they shared over 42 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and family.
Kristy dedicated many years of her life to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King. She had a caring heart and found joy in helping those around her.
Outside of work, Kristy loved spending time outdoors hunting and fishing, traveling with family and friends, trying her luck at local casinos, and, in her younger years, shooting pool. Above all else, she treasured the time she spent with her family.
Kristy is lovingly survived by her husband, Christian Nielsen; her mother, Karen Borchert of Waupaca; her daughter, Andrea (Dave) Lindenmeyer of Waupaca; her cherished granddaughter, Makaela Hicks (Aiden Weigand) of Waupaca; her sister, Debby (Roy) Jorgensen of Oneida, Tennessee; her brothers, Randy (Brenda White) Borchert Jr. of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Mark (Tina) Borchert of Waupaca; her special cousin, Leesa Handrich of Madison; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Randall Borchert, and her brother, Scott Borchert.
A Memorial Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Greenwood Cemetery in Amherst, Wisconsin. Following the graveside service, family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life luncheon beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Silver Lake Lanes in Scandinavia, Wisconsin.
The family kindly requests that, in honoring Kristy's wishes, gifts, flowers, and cards not be sent. Your presence, prayers, and memories are the greatest comfort during this time. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
