LAMBERT F. KENOWSKI
SCANDINAVIA, WISCONSIN Age 80 passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 12, 2007 at Appleton Medical Center in Appleton, WI. He was born April 2, 1927 in the Town of Stockton, Portage Co., WI; son of Peter and Martha (Rzentkowski) Kenowski. On May 18, 1953, Lambert married Anna Felckowski at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church – Fancher. Lambert grew up on his family farm and attended Paderewski Grade School and St. Mary’s Catholic School. He worked at various farms until moving to Milwaukee in his twenties. He first was employed with Milwaukee Railroad as a fireman and then was employed with Northwestern Lumber Wrecking Co. until entering the U.S. Army in October 1950. Upon entering the service, he was stationed at Camp Pickett, Virginia, during the Korean War, receiving his training as a medic. During his training he received the Sharp Shooter Medal. At the rank of Private E, he was transferred to Camp Youngsham, California, and shipped overseas to Japan; stationed at Camp Drake, Japan. In Japan he was assigned to a carpentry group then was promoted to PFC, doing light truck duty. After truck duty, he was assigned to the shipping headquarters. When promoted to Corporal, he served with the JLC Army during his stay in Japan. Lambert was discharged on October 9, 1952 at Camp Carson, Colorado. He received his Honorable Discharge on December 10, 1956 after five years in the Reserves. He returned to Milwaukee and resumed his employment at Northwestern Lumber Wrecking Co. working as a laborer and then as a foreman until 1963. Lambert moved to Scandinavia, WI and became a dairy farmer until his retirement in 1988. He kept active with his life, though, as health permitted. Lambert enjoyed his family, visits with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He especially loved doing projects with his family. He also enjoyed going to auctions and doing creative projects. Lambert was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Amherst, WI. Lambert is survived by:

Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Martha (Rzentkowski) Kenowski, five brothers, Walter, Edwin, Clarence (Gwen), Clements, and Myron, two sisters, Susie Kenowski and Lorraine Glisczinski, and his grandparents, Michael and Josephine (Jacobowski) Kenowski and Joseph and Mary (Magolski) Rzentkowski. A special thank-you to the First Responders and Ambulance Crew of Portage County and to our family, friends, and others who helped our family throughout Lambert’s illness. Their professional expertise, continuing help, and special care will never be forgotten. A Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church in Amherst, WI. Father Robert Pedretti will preside. A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, Aug. 14, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst with a Rosary Service at 6:30 PM. A visitation will also be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Stockton on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. James Building Fund or to the Appleton Heart Institute. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst is assisting the family with arrangements.
