LaNor Desterhoft's Obituary
LaNor A. Desterhoft
Waupaca, WI (formerly of Germantown, WI)
Age 77 – went to live with Jesus on Saturday, May 22, 2010. After struggling with a lengthy illness she died at her daughter’s home where she had been lovingly cared for over the past eighteen months. She was born on August 1, 1932 in Milwaukee, WI, a daughter of the late Ernest and Laurinda (Kurth) Aschauer.
LaNor was a proud graduate of Washington High School in Milwaukee, class of 1950. Many of the people she met there became her life long friends. On December 6, 1952, she married Emil E. Desterhoft in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on January 30, 1985. Everyone who met LaNor became her friend. She was kind, loving, and generous. She loved to talk, cook, bake, knit washcloths, read, spend time with her family, and take pontoon boat rides. LaNor had a life long desire to live in a lake home. In 2002 she fulfilled that dream when she moved into a home on White Lake in Weyauwega, WI. She loved her home and the beautiful views she had from her windows. Most importantly though, she loved her neighbors who were always so friendly, kind, and helpful.
LaNor is survived by her daughter, Penny (Wayne) Cain of Waupaca, and their daughter Kayla for whom “Grammy” cared for since she was an infant, son, Michael (Julie) Desterhoft of Campbellsport, and their children Laura (Matt) Ostry, Kristen (Jodi) Campbell, and Sarah Desterhoft (Fiancé: Eric Cypher), step children; Nick (Cathy) Bailey and Chris (Becky) Bailey, four great grandchildren, four step-great grandchildren, brother; Wayne (Verna) Aschauer of Germantown, and sister; Karyne Bartz of Milwaukee. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, close neighbors, many friends, and her “Butler Buddy” JoAnn Bublitz of Butler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil Desterhoft, her parents, and a brother, Millard Aschauer.
