Lauretta M. Birkebak's Obituary
Lauretta M. Birkebak, age 92 of Wild Rose, passed away on August 11, 2012. Lauretta was born on January 17, 1920, the daughter of Ernest and Mary (Sorensen) Christensen. Lauretta graduated from Wild Rose High School, Waushara County Normal, and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She taught Elementary school for 34 years in several Waushara County schools and in Menomonee Falls, WI. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Saxeville and was a life member of the Wisconsin Education Association & National Education Association. She was also a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Wisconsin. Lauretta loved to travel and spent time listening to sports.
Lauretta is survived by her daughter Patricia (William) Seefelt of Saxeville, WI; her son Gary (Joanne) Nelson of Wild Rose, WI; one step daughter Chris (Kenneth) Middleton of Corpus Christi, TX; one sister Betty Markowski of Berlin, WI; one brother Roger Christensen of Wild Rose, WI; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren, many other nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Lauretta was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Mary Christensen; her first husband Garth Nelson, passed away in 1966; and her second husband Merrill Birkebak, passed away in 1985.
A funeral service will be held on Friday August 17, 2012 at 11 A.M. at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Saxeville, Pastor Vicki Fink will officiate. Burial will follow in the Saxeville Union Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service at 11 A.M. at the church.
