LaVerne had many interests and involvements over her lifetime but none more important to her than her family. She will always be remembered for gathering her extended family together for a week every summer in northern Wisconsin. For thirty years we enjoyed each others company while sharing stories, swimming, boating, card playing, golfing, taking turns cooking, fishing and so much more. She took great pride watching her family grow to include many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her extraordinary care of family was also shown by the hand made dresses for her children, home baked bread, canned fruits and vegetables as well as the “first 4 years” and “18 years of life” photo albums she made for every grandchild.
LaVerne joined the workforce later in life. She ended her career serving as the Village Clerk for the Village of Amherst and was recognized for excellence in this role by the Wisconsin Municipal Clerks Association. LaVerne was also very involved in her church and community, volunteering her time on behalf of many organizations including St. James Catholic Church, CAP Services , the American Legion Auxiliary, the Tomorrow River Tree Board and the Lettie W. Jensen Community Center. LaVerne also enjoyed gardening, reading many newspapers, coffee with friends, her prayer group and traveling. Her most memorable trip was to visit with family in Poland.
A special thank you to the wonderful care team at The Lodge at Whispering Pines for the compassion and care they provided while LaVerne was a resident, especially in her final days.
