Leo Weber's Obituary
Leo J. Weber, age 89, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2007 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI. He was born Mary 11, 1918 in Volga, Iowa, the son of Louis and Bessie (Duff) Weber. He married Aileen Welson on April 22, 1947 in Appleton, WI. She preceded him in death in 1984. Leo served proudly in the US Marine Corps during WWII from 1940 – 1945. He achieved the rank of Sergeant while serving in the South Pacific war zone. He was an active member of the Eagle River VFW Post #8637, holding the position of Commander there for two terms. He was employed with what was the American Can Co. in Menasha for 35 years. Leo will be deeply missed by his children, Mark (Carol Mary Dixon) Weber, Columbus, Ohio; Myra (Gary) Herwig, Appleton; Ellen Engelman, Orange Park, FL; Ann (Gerald) LaBonte, Appleton; Margaret (Gary) Zornow, Algoma, WI and Andrew Weber, Winter Park, FL; four grandchildren; one brother, Harold Weber, Iowa; and a sister, Maxine (Allen) Roche, Beloit. In addition to his parents and wife, Leo was preceded in death by four brothers: Glen, William, Walter, and Clifford Weber and two sisters, Hazel Doughy and Rosella Engel. The family wishes to thank the Ainsworth Hall staff at King for the excellent and compassionate care they gave our father during the years he was with them. A private family service will be held at the Wisconsin Veterans Home – Ainsworth Hall Chapel in King. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Leo’s name can be made to the Salvation Army, 130 E. North St., Appleton, WI 54911. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family.
