Leona F. Larson
Waupaca, WI age 79 – died on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at her residence. She was born on March 14, 1929 in the Township of Belmont, Portage County, WI, the daughter of Dale and Zada (Lewis) Dent. She married Allen Larson on September 30, 1950 in Almond, WI. He preceded her in death on September 25, 1992. Leona is survived by her three children; Allen Ross (June) Larson of Luck, WI, Debra (James) Mattson of Frederic, WI, and Gene Larson of Cross Plains, WI, grandchildren; Nicole, Russel (Monica), Melisa (Roberto), Adam, Bryan, and Maxwell, step-grandson; Brett, and sisters; Lila Larson of Waupaca, and Anna (Morris) Young of Almond. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Leona was preceded in death by her husband; Allen, her mother and father; Zada and Frank Wiora, her biological father; Dale Dent, and two sisters; Viola “June” Baker and Alta Guyant. Leona had been a secretary at the Farmers State Bank in Waupaca for many years, retiring in 1994. Prior to working at the bank she had been employed with the Waupaca Police Department as a meter maid and crossing guard. Leona was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca and had at one time been active with the Youth Group at the church. She loved to travel and had traveled abroad extensively. She also enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and playing Scrabble. Leona was also an avid Green Bay Packer fan. A memorial service will be held at the Trinity Lutheran church in Waupaca, WI on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Nathan Liedtke, officiating. Interment will be in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at King, WI. Friends may call at the church on Thursday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
