Leona Onken's Obituary
Leona F. (Onie) Onken, age 73, of Waupaca, WI, formally of Neenah passed away Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Crystal River Nursing & Rehab. Center. Onie was born in Balaton, MN on October 5, 1934, the daughter of the late Henry G.and Florence L.(Nord) Greenfield On April 17, 1955, Onie married Romaine (Romie) Onken and he preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 2005. Onie and Romie lived in Neenah for over 28 years. During those years, Onie was the Christian Education Director at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Neenah. After moving to Waupaca, Onie worked at Crystal River Nursing and Rehab. Center. She is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca. Onie is survived by her children: Kim (Jim) Elvecrog of St. Paul, MN; Tom (Michele) Onken of Orlando, Florida and Amy Kron of Washington D.C; her five grandchildren: Anne, Jane, Kathryn, Karim & Wyatt; her five brothers: Malcolm Greenfield of Palm Springs, FL; Robert (Harriet) Greenfield of Seattle, WA; Harvey (Rosie) Greenfield of Rapid City, S.D.; Dean Greenfield of Hills, MN and Alan (Jeannie) Greenfield of Fulda, MN and a sister: Karen (Daryll) Ommen of Fulda, MN. Onie was preceded in death by her husband: Romaine Romie Onken, an infant son, Jon, three brothers, Dennis, John and Charles Greenfield and three sisters, Marian Yaeger, Jean Behr and June Brostrom. A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca at 4 PM on Sunday, March 9 with Reverend Dr. Charles Tews, officiating. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3 to 4 PM at the church. A Memorial Fund has been established in Onie's name.
