Leonard Dake's Obituary
Leonard G. Dake, age 89, of Saxeville, WI., passed away on Monday, August 29th, 2011 at Appleton Medical Center in Appleton. He was born in Wild Rose, WI., on June 27, 1922, a son of the late Earl and Louella (Morey) Dake. Leonard graduated from Wild Rose High School in 1941. He served in the United States Army during WW II in the European Theater of Operations and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was in a German prisoner of war camp for 5 months. He was discharged on October 24, 1945 from service. While in service, Leonard married Marcella Williams on May 29, 1943. Leonard lived in Chicago and drove for the Chicago Transit Authority for 39 years. He retired in 1983 and moved to Saxeville. He was a member of the Wild Rose Presbyterian Church. Leonard enjoyed gardening, fishing and watching baseball. Survivors include his Wife: Marcella Dake, Saxeville, WI; Children: Suzanne (Walter) Koglin, Tinley Park, IL; Barbara Green, Knoxville, TN; Nadine (William) Wilder, Oak Ridge, TN; Grandchildren: Denise Pruliere, France; Clint Koglin, Chicago, IL; Beth Green, Dandridge, TN; Brian Green, Nashville, TN; Jeffrey Green, Chapel Hill, NC; Christine Wilder, Durham, NC; Caleb Wilder, Oak Ridge, TN; Great Grandchildren: Alexis Green; Matthew Green; Cora Green. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. Funeral Services will be held at the Wild Rose Presbyterian Church in Wild Rose at 11 AM on Thursday, September 1st, 2011, with Reverend Alyson Janke, officiating. Interment will be in the Hilltop Cemetery Town Saxeville, Waushara Co., WI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 - 8 PM at the Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose and on Thursday, from 10 AM until the time of the service at the church. A memorial has been established.
