Leslie Lipke's Obituary
Leslie Emil Lipke, age 57, died December 28, 2008 and is finally at rest with God, after being ill most of his life. He was born in Waupaca on May 2, 1951, and raised in Lind Center, a son of the late Emil E. and Anita L. (Nichols) Lipke. He married Eva Elaine Baitinger on December 13, 1970 in Menominee, MI. and renewed their vows on January 23, 1971 at his church, Emmaus Lutheran, Lind Center. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Viet Nam years, with basic at Lackland AFB, Texas. He was honorably, medically discharged after 16 days. He worked as a forklift driver, an OTR Truck Driver, School Bus Driver and Rural Paper Carrier before suffering from Congestive Heart Failure. After returning to Waupaca, he and his wife, Eva purchased and ran the A-1 Taxi Service for 20 years. Leslie was a great cook and he did a lot of crafts, he was a real perfectionist when it came to crocheting his many quilts. He was a true lover of animals, our dogs, Topsy, Heidi and Fergie are with him in Heaven and he will be greatly missed by his little girls, Millie and Pattie. He also hand fed and raised our pet birds, he loved and knew all of their 17 names. Les is Past Secretary/Treasurer of his bowling league. A long time member and Secretary/Treasurer of the Wisconsin Association of Taxicab Owners (WATO), International Taxicab Livery Association (ITLA). He and Eva were members of the Wisconsin Caged Bird Association. He is survived by his Wife: Eva; Special Friends: Evan & Lynn, Sheri & Eric; Mark & Brenda, Kimberly, Benjamin & Ashley; Chuck & Vera, Jason, Sara & Charlett; God Children: Jonelle & Brian. Also many other friends, his classmates and Bowling Brothers, nieces, nephews and cousins. Les was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law and his godchild, Chad. Funeral Services will be held at Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 2nd, 2009. Interment will be in the Lind Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 until 8 PM at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca and on Friday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Personal thoughts and memories can be sent to Holly Funeral Home and will be forwarded to Eva.
