Leslie Selquist
Wild Rose, WI Age 95 – died on Friday, February 29, 2008 at the Wild Rose Manor in Wild Rose, WI. He was born on January 13, 1913 in Varna, IL, a son of John and Anna Selquist. He married Laura Chessel on November 28, 1935 in Rockford, IL. Leslie is survived by his wife; Laura, a son; Ronald (Donna) Selquist of Port St. Lucie, FL, a daughter; Jean (Ray) Maple of Wild Rose, WI, nine grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, two brothers; Maynard Selquist and Laverne (Ramona) Selquist, both of Rockford, IL, and a sister; Violet Winter of Rockford, IL. He is further survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter; Martha Peyton, and his parents.
Leslie had been employed as a machinist with the Elco Tool Co. in Rockford, IL for about 30 years. While living in Rockford Leslie had been very active with the Boy Scouts. He and Laura moved to the Wild Rose area in 1964, and he became the owner/operator of the Evergreen Campsites, retiring in 1974. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Saxeville, WI. He was an honored lifetime member of the Wild Rose Lion’s Club, and was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Award. Leslie had enjoyed square dancing, golf, fishing, and traveling.
A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Saxeville, WI on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Bob Hanson, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Saxeville Union Cemetery. Friends may call at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Saxeville on Tuesday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, or the Wild Rose Lion’s Club in memory of Leslie Selquist. The Holly Funeral Home of Wild Rose, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
