To Karen, Steve, and your families:
I just read the memorial for your Mom, Libbie, and wanted to send a quick message to all of you. My heart goes out to you.
Libbie and Curley were my neighbors while in Bettendorf, IA. They both were very special people that I considered very dear friends as well. It was such a joy to see them enjoying life so completely. I’ll always remember fondly Curley’s backyard activities with the squirrels in the backyard throughout the year – brought me much laughter. Libbie certainly had a green thumb, both with indoor and outdoor plants. Over the years I lived there, we had many wonderful conversations sitting in the backyard; I learned so much about life from both of them. It was wonderful seeing the close, loving relationship they had throughout their marriage and the closeness they had with their family. A number of years after they moved to their beautiful Waupaca home, I moved back to my hometown to attend the UW-Madison. Curley had passed away by that time. I made several trips for a day visit with Libbie in her home. She was the most gracious hostess – always sharing a delicious snack (which could not be refused). We had wonderful conversations regarding our memories of Bettendorf, Curley, and her wonderful life in retirement. She truly loved life and was a joy to all who had the blessing of calling her “friend.” I still think of both Libbie and Curley with very fond memories and will miss them. It was a blessing to have met them and to have formed a friendship with them.
Love and comfort to you,
Connie
