Linda V. Loss' Obituary
LINDA V. (SCHEIDER) LOSS (Nee Elandt) Took the hand of God and entered into eternal life on September 9, 2024 at the age of 102. Linda was born on January 22, 1922 as the youngest daughter and fourth of six children to the late Herman and Hattie (nee Warmbier) Elandt. Linda was a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church Baldwin Mills having been baptized, confirmed and married there. Over the years, she was involved at St. John’s as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, member of the choir, the Ladies Aid and quilting group. She was a woman of strong faith and lived a long, fulfilling life and was happy to have it revolve around her faith and family.
Linda was blessed with and deeply loved by her surviving daughters: Darlene (Stephan) Snyder of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; Luan (Mike) Unger of Waukesha, Wisconsin and Laurie (Ernie) Hrad of Roseville, Minnesota. She was a proud grandmother to Erich (Jess) Snyder, Melissa (Ben) Drwall-Hrad and Josh (Laura) Hrad as well as a doting great-grandmother to Caleb and Lucas Snyder and Nora Drwall-Hrad. She is further survived by step-children Marjorie (Charles) Gehrt, Richard (Nancy) Loss, Edward (partner Tai) Loss and Randy Loss, step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends and neighbors who were all touched by her loving heart. She was predeceased by her siblings Lorena (John) Spiegelberg, Alfred (Ardyce) Elandt, Leona (Harold) Backer, Arlin (Shirley) Elandt and Reuben (Marion) Elandt; former husband Darrell Scheider and husband, Gordon Loss. She will be dearly missed by her family and everyone who had the opportunity to know her and she will live on in our hearts forever.
Linda’s many qualities included kindness, compassion and the thinking of others. She spent countless hours visiting shut-ins and friends who needed a kind word, frequently taking a small gift along. She was a faithful donor to the American Cancer Society after going through cancer herself and spent many years donating to the local food pantry for those less fortunate.
Linda was a 4-H leader and a member of her Extension Homemaker’s Club. Her interests included sewing, growing flowers, especially African violets, solving word search puzzles and reading a good book. She was known for the innumerable pies and homemade cookies she baked, often sharing with visitors. She cherished the time she had playing cards and socializing with her late dear friends Eileen Paulsen, Enola Steinbach and Bonny Thomack. Later in life, she also started exercising at Curves to remain active.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the caregivers and staff at Park Vista Assisted Living Center, especially Kim, Jessica and Brianna, for the exceptional and compassionate care provided and where she was treated with respect, dignity and love. Special thanks are also given to Kenn and Nancy Elandt and Cheryl Lohr for all of their extra care given to Linda; the family will be forever grateful.
Visitation will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church Baldwin Mills, Weyauwega from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024 with a celebration of life at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow. Burial will be held at the Ostrander Cemetery following a graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us everyday.
Unseen, unheard but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.”
