Loretta M. Hetzel
Waupaca, WI (formerly of Amherst,WI) Loretta Hetzel passed away on April 1, 2011 at Bethany Home in Waupaca, WI. She was 98 years old. Loretta was born in Plainfield, WI on March 1, 1913, the daughter of Joseph and Minnie (Lauer) Meyer. She was a school teacher in the Plainfield area prior to and after her marriage to Raymond Hetzel on May 28, 1942.
She was a homemaker. She and her husband Raymond lived in Amherst for most of their married life. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1997. Surviving are her sons; Lawrence (Kathy) Hetzel and their children, Robert, Ross, and Amanda, Donald (Cindi Shurbert-Hetzel) and their children, Alyssa, Cole, and Autum, William (Mary) Hetzel and their children, Ryan (Sheila), Jennifer, and Devin, and her step-grandchildren, Lindsay, Kenyeh, and Elizabeth Ohlert, and David (Kathy) Hetzel and their children, Jonathan (Tracey) and Casey, one great grandson, Mason, and one sister, Madeline Gabert. Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, her infant son, Robert, her granddaughter, Megan, her parents, and siblings, Ernest, Roy, Louis, and Leone.
Loretta was a member of the St. James Catholic Church in Amherst and had been active with the Altar Society. She had also been an active member of the Amherst Women's Club for many years. Loretta was a loving mother and grandmother. She was an avid gardener. Loretta had a very special love of the Lord. She will be deeply missed.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church in Amherst, WI, with Father Robert Pedretti, Celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery, Township of Oasis, Waushara County, WI. A visitation will be held at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst, WI on Tuesday evening from 4:00 - 8:00 PM, and again on Wednesday morning at the church from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. A Rosary service will be held at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home on Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM. Memorials can be directed to Bethany Home of Waupaca, WI in the name of Loretta Hetzel. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
